After a three year hiatus during which the band developed its alter-ego "Bryan and the Haggards," Big V Chord are back! Bouncing wildly between genres, their music walks a line between structural adherence and free improvisation, infusing Lundbom's music with a healthy dose of intense, virtuosic improvisation and an uncanny ability to hold its center.
The new album features four original compositions by Lundbom, running the gamut from the soft, slippery, and romantic notes of “Phoenetics” to the brash, rocky, and dissonant tones of “Baluba, Baluba.” “Accomplish Jazz” also features a cover “of The Christian Life,” originally recorded by the Louvin Brothers on 1960's “Satan is Real.” Jon considers himself a composer as much as a guitarist, channelling the compositions and improvisational structures of Eric Dolphy, John Cage, and John Zorn as much as the guitar playing of Derek Bailey, Marc Ducret, Nels Cline, and John Scofield.
