Ballads documents the musical relationship between Pennsylvania natives Charles Evans, Moppa Elliott, Eli Hludzik, Neil Shah, and Eric Dutko,  Baritone saxophonist Evans artfully navigates seven ballads, shifting from standard pieces such as "Body and Soul," and "Chelsea Bridge," to two of his original compositions.   Evans' displays his wide range and virtuostic control throughout this recording and presents an album that is mature and insightful.  The interplay between the members of the rhythm section and soloist is complex, fluid and extraordinarily musical, avoiding cliches and embracing beauty and simplicity.
